I am not a fan of playing vocal music on the oboe. The tune may be beautiful but the words and the emotional scope of the poetry is what makes the piece so amazing.
I guess you can get around it by printing the text in the programme notes, but unless your audience is familiar with the piece the text and the melody will seem so disjointed as opposed to a vocal performance where they are integrated perfectly. I also couldn't imagine the oboe matching the full power of a singer, and a piano seems such a poor substitute for the beauty of a Strauss orchestration.
Having said that, I have played a couple of vocal pieces on the oboe before-a vocalise by Messien, a couple Debussy songs and Black Anemones by Schwantner. They all seemed more instrumental than vocal.
However, it is your recital and you can play whatever the heck you want to.
