Hey Jen!

What do you do when warming up? I'm curious too...here's what I do:

1) Slow scales, slurred
2) Long tones (starting soft as possible, growing to ff, ending as soft as possible)
3) Arpeggios
4) Really slow tounging on one note, getting progressively faster
5) Barrett studies (I'm pretty sure if you're practicing 2 hours a day you have this book by now) are great for technique and the slow ones are good for getting the air warmed up
6) Just playing a single note as loud and as full as possible, just to see what the reed is capable of
7) A lot of the time I try to play orchestral excerpts very early on to see if I can play them accurately the first time through (like at an audition)

That's about all I can think of for now...what about you? And are you at University, High school or otherwise? You sound like you're pretty serious...I'm at Laurier in my first year, studying with James Mason.

Graham
