Interesting and good to read your take on it. For myself I do not mind a reed that is on the flat side, and prefer it to one that tends sharp. It is just what I have got used to making and working withy over the years. A colleague who was a trumpet player, and who used to take the wind tutorials in our orchestra, preferred my slightly flat As, as he said that it helps keep the rest of the wind grounded, as over the course of the sessions, pitch will rise. The ear tends to favour the sharper pitch though. I think these reeds will be a boon for players who are doublers, pit musicians etc who often need to change instruments at short notice, and heeping a cane reed hydrated and ready can be a real juggling act.
