For funzies I play instruments that I'm not good at in the local New Horizons band. Gives me something to do and a different kind of challenge, more of a scramble than a quest for perfection. There is a lady who showed up with a bass clarinet that was the most gorgeous rosewood I've ever seen, and you can bet she doesn't let that out of her sight. Whether she can play it, I don't know, but I like looking at it. It is a much prettier color, more reddish, that my rosewood cor, which is more orangish. Playability being equal, even if the price were different, I'd choose a pretty reddish rosewood over a blackwood, just because.
