I have always had problems with dynamics. It gets so frustrating at times....Thus this post....
I know a good reed matters, but what give versatility and contrast in dynamics? I have tried to practise, but i know there must be something to concentrate on in order to increase that dynamic range. I did some exercises on the John Williams book which were extremely difficult and tiresome and although i could do them they don't seem to be working for me practically. I think there must be something physical which i am not doing right.
And at the same time, have you ever been there at times where softness tends to cut off projection? I guess this is what sets the oboe apart from the other instruments, its flexibility.
I am sure we can get a valuable thread here. Thanks.
