I believe the airy middle Bb you are experiencing is squarely an issue with the state of the reed at that particular time. This happens to me not infrequently with certain oboe/reed combinations. This is a temporary situation that is associated with the reed losing its crow from the bottom.
When this happens (usually after extended playing time on a given reed), take the reed out and test its crow. You may find the quality of the crow has diminished and the second note (nominally middle C) is no longer emerging or is very much weakened. You may wany to try to restore it then and there by further appropriate scraping of the back, just to resurrect the middle of the crow. Or just change to another reed and let the one rest till the next day when it will come back in most cases in this direction.
Give this a try the next time this occurs.
