I'm surprised not that many are talking about used pro models. I've never bought a new instrument, and I own strings, brass, and my oboe. My current oboe, a Rigoutat Expression, was purchased on ebay for $3k. It was a terrific price for a terrific instrument, and I was searching on ebay for a while before this one came up with a Buy It Now. But....I would never have sent for it had it not had a two week return period. And I got a steal, an extremely high quality pro instrument for a bargain price. So...buy new if you want, but there really is no reason to do so.
