Yes, I've met some of his students but don't have contact information. One of the things that he was doing, I heard, was that he would squeeze the finished reed over the staple end with a pliers to open or close the reed. It didn't seem like a good idea to me, however, as it distorted the staple and would eventually crack the staple. He seemed to be respected in Los Angeles for his studio work.
