Clean plaque out of the bore & tone holes

Hi All
I have a Marigaux M2 that has being getting more and more out of tune on the flat side and both F are getting really bad. I have try all the usual suspects, Reeds, Staples, Pad height, but no luck I also have 901 which with the same reeds is very much in tune.

Looking on the clarinet board one person was talk about plaque in the tone holes affecting the pitch and how someone would remove it and the instrument would play as good or better than new again.

So I took of the forked F key off to find the bore is has full of light brown layer stuff that can be move it with a small plastic screw driver little by little from the tone hole.

My question what would the best way of remove it from the bore as it must be in other parts of the bore without damaging the bore, also the tone for the holes? Is there some kind of polish that can be applied as well.

What I am thinking is pull all the keys off clean out all tone holes, get a USB Endoscope Camera from ebay inspect the bore from the inside find the problem areas and brush out the bore with lots of different size bottle brushes and elbow grease but would that be too harsh for the bore, any other ideas are welcome thanks.

I am ok with doing the work myself as I have pull apart oboes many times before including re padding.

By the away I swab out the oboe ever time I use it. The 901 does not have the problem as it was made back in 70’s and has a very high finish in the bore unlike the M2 which does not look like it was finished in the same way. I read on the clarinet board that to make the tone darker the non polished finish is better but the side effect is more open grain to collect stuff would this be true on the oboes as well or is this just a sign of the time’s with wood quality.

Thanks

Nicholas Taylor
