Had a relatively pleasant foray trying on an American style reed recently. Have always been a short scrape oboe player (11 years) but is now open to experiencing something different.

American oboe players, some advice needed:
1. Any experience on K. Ge's American scrape reeds? Are they reliable and easily tweakable?
2. Who are some of the best and most reliable commercial reed makers in the states at the moment?
Regards,
Howard

I mostly make my own, but recently had a chance to try Heidi Brann's reeds and liked her professional one (on my Loree AK). I put in some info about it on my blog.
She's at www.hboboereeds.com
I didn't have very good results with some of the reeds at my local music store, but at the time I was a bare beginner and had a poor instrument.
Best of luck,
