Weight bearing exercise, free weights or machines can provide benefits for both arthritis and repetitive motion injury, and can also help to avoid them.

When I was your age, I was having some problems also, (computer programmer then) and started a daily gym routine of cardio followed by weights.

The problems almost completely disappeared in time. I don't remember how long that was but I do remember one day suddenly realizing all the pain was gone.

That while still a computer programmer and doing fairly heavy daily oboe and piano practice.

Good luck with it.
