Hello Howard and Wai Kit

I can answer your query, Howard. Indeed, as I wrote it in another post, there exists a complete recording of Dittersdorf's oboe concertos on the Hungaroton Classic label as performed by Lajos Lencsès and the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra conducted by Janos Rolla (ref. HCD 32062). And this CD features no less than 6 oboe concertos. It has a total duration of 75'25 ! In the liner notes, we get some piece of info. Actually Dittersdorf is the author of 7 oboe concertos of which 6 have survived. To be even more precise, there are 5 oboe concertos and 1 concerto for oboe d'amore.
Here are the pieces and their respective tones and opus numbers:

- C Major L. 24
- D Major L. 25b
- C Major L. 39
- C Major L. 40a
- G Major L. 42

- A Major L. 43b (oboe d'amore)

So, as you can easily notice it, there's only one Concerto in G.

And don't forget Dittersdorf's "Andantino", a 7' piece with oboe stemming from one of his symphonies which is one of the most beautiful slow movements for oboe I've ever heard. It's available on another Lencsès CD featuring concertos by Graupner, Stulick and Förster.

I'm surprised the Hungarian virtuoso player Lajos Lencsès is hardly ever mentioned on this board for he has a large discography from the baroque era to the XXth Century including both chamber music and concertos. He's by far the most represented oboe player in my CD collection. Does it mean he's not well known in North America ? Anyway, I strongly recommend to have browse through his discography since there are quite a lot of pieces which can be found only played by him.
