I was always told that the high notes needed more fast speed air by my other seniors. No wonder all my high notes sounded disgustingly screechy and out of tune. By rolling in of the embouchure, you mean by rolling in the upper and lower lip in more?
I'm unable to learn reedmaking because i have no tutor. I often turn to other reedmakers for them to adjust my reeds. =)
And my reed that kept closing, was played on for 3-5 hours straight during full band, that, the reedmaker said, was the main cause of it to keep closing up. He told me to pinch the wire around the reed softly and leave it for some time, using another reed that requires less control. I guess it was pretty much my embouchure problem. =/
With a broken reed, wouldn't the vibrations be a little odd? But I guess, it'll train the student to be better because the reed can't be changed and he/she'll have to just make do with what he/she has. Sounds pretty good. Maybe when the concert's over, I'll try it on myself. =)
I don't really understand the tongue level concept, the U, E, I portion. Sorry. =/
Like my senior used to say, practice practice and MORE practice, explore! There's no shortcut in oboe playing. =) How true.
