I liked the performance well enough, he did get indescribably hot which was something to contend with.

I liked the Cadenza though it has to be said it wasn't strictly in the "Style Of" the concerto but I am never certain if that''s essential or just musical snobbery..personally I liked it it.

I admire anyone who can open the Proms, one of the biggest series of concerts on the planet and yet seem to remain so utterly calm, even when the odd note decided not to speak. A true and established professional, with a wealth of experience and a solid lineage back through British Oboe Playing and who is also a very nice guy.
