 Re: Chinese oboes?

You sound like you have some good criteria re: sound and stability.

I am an amateur (4 decades of playing experience) who purchases used instruments. I buy from reputable sites or from oboe-restorers. My experience shopping from any other source has been negative.

I doubt I will ever buy a new instrument, as I doubt I will ever buy a new car.
A new oboe takes time and care to break in. I LIKE the older instruments. And I like their prices! My very old Jarde plays easily and fairly brightly, so you might consider that brand (no longer made, but Peter Hurd has some).

My student just bought a used Fox 330 from a reputable dealer, for less than $1500, and it is a Good Instrument.

I doubt I would even look at a Chinese-made oboe, not because there 'can't be' any good ones out there but because I don't know anything about them and have done well with European-made instruments.

So that is my 2 cents.
