Well,
I have a new batch of cane ... and boy it "ain't" too good! I noticed that the cane does not gouge well. Upon examination of the cane savings .... it seems fibrous, stringy, and most interesting I would say the shaving are also"powdery". It seems the gouger can't really grab and scrape the layers of the cane.
I don't know what kind of reeds the cane will make .. I have my doubts. Monday ... I will call the supplier and share my observations (and ask for a refund too?)
Any other observations ... experiences relating gouger shavings to reed outcomes etc...........
I just love when a good piece of cane shaves easily and beautifully with good consistency in the wood and comes out golden.
