I have a Kohlert oboe purchased from Lyons Music in Chicago by my parents in 1945. It was not new then and has on the bell "LR..Kohlert sons..Maker...GRASLITZ...CZECHO.SLOVAKIA
...a series of 7 circles...in the third circle from the left letters C--CaBO and something possibly in the middle circle. Third circle from the right looks "LOHDON (could be London?.) Below the circles is a star or petal design. I thought it had a number, but couldn't find it.
It is unique in that it has an automatic octave. Its great! In scanning your information I believe that it pre dates 1928. It has a great sound.
It is a full concervetory instrument and I have played it up to the present in bands, symphonies, ensembles and as a solo instrument. I've had minor repairs, could find no one to do a complete overhaul, and given it TLC, but It is telling me it needs help. The lower joint keys are locking, the octave needs adjusting among other things. It had a great repair man for some time, but not now. I will send pics if needed. The sound is great, and I would like some help for what to do.
