Hi crafters,
I'm just curious about the words you use when you 'make' a reed.
Do some of you 'carve' reeds? Shape? Build? Cut? Scrape?
others?

I frequently say 'chop'.

"Working on", but only after tying. Before that, it's shaping cane, gouging, etc.

Ah, a person of Specifics! "Working on" sounds pretty darn accurate, too, considering that some of us can be 'incrementalists'.

Although there is nothing more satisfying than the sound of a good 'chop' on that little round block, when you trim a tip to the Perfect Place.

In english, I scrape. In french, "je monte" (I tie a blank) and "je gratte" (I scrape).

Cheers/ au plaisir!

I'm always "working on" reeds. But since I buy them already made, I frequently say I am " tweaking" reeds. There's a new entry in the lexicon for you!

MOST of us are 'tweakers', in your sense of the word, so never feel alone.
