Many amateur flute players play the third register too sharp because they have never been instructed in the proper embouchure to play the entire flute in tune. Many flute teachers do the same. James Galway gives good information on how to play the flute in tune. Oboe players cannot be expected to match the sharp third registers of certain flute players.
