Hello Board,
I thought the problem was resolved.
After Multiple key/pad adjustments and other maintenance (by repair person) - it seemed the problem was resolved. At the shop the Oboe played beautifully - with a beautiful scale.
However, after playing briefly at home - the noise in the C note came back!
I blew through the top joint and the problem improved.
It seems logical that the problem is in the C key - If I play the "C" with an alternate fingering - i.e., the A and F# key - there is no problem. Every note around the "C" is okay. I cleaned out the C key (the one raised with the F# raised) - and the problem still persisted...... .
One more observation - the problem gets worse as you play and is better after leaving the oboe alone a bit. I saw the repair person after the Oboe was left without playing for about 16 hours....
Mark
PS: I just came home from an afternoon out - and the oboe played well with no "noise" .... so - ? moisture? After a few minutes the problem reoccurred. I don't believe the octave vent was removed ad cleaned by repair person .... anyway - I blew some compressed air through the octave vent and Voila - the problem disappeared...... any suggestions in removing, cleaning, and putting back the octave vent?
