Hi Chris and Andrew,
The oboe in question has a "BT" serial number.
I am comparing the auction photographs to a (real) BR series Loree I have.
In the second to last photograph (the one just before the photo of the Loree logo on the inside of the case lid), the shape of the low C# keycup and lever on the BT bears no resemblance to same the BR. On the BR, this keycup + lever is all very fine, subtle, gentle curves, whereas on the BR, sharp points, sharp edges- for instance where the hinge tube goes through the lever, and very crude, not at all elegant work.
In similar fashion, the cross lever that attaches to the low B keycup to the hinge tube on the [real] BR oboe is comprised of two gentle though distinct angles, whereas on the BT, the cross lever is only one swooping curve.
It appears that the E key and the F# key have had new plates soldered over top of an existing key.
The lever that connects the F# key to the G# on the [real] BR has a long run at a slight angle across, up from the F# hinge tube, then a short near right angle upturn. On the BT at auction the lever from the F# has only one lazy, steep curve upwards towards the F# key hinge tube. I see many other anomalies in key patterns between the BT and [real] BR.
In any event, I would be wary of buying this instrument with the thought that it is for sure a genuine Loree oboe.
