My english horn is a Loree from the early 80s.
Unlike the oboe reed quest for the holy grail, ehorn reeds just seem to work. I don't even shape it. Just buy it and it plays. Well, say 1 of 2 do, but better than with oboe.
You might try finding something like a mic stand or camera stand that allows you to position the entire recorder at an angle. I think that would be useful and beneficial. There are universal adaptors and with shock mounts that reduce vibrations getting into the sound from the stand or floor, but I'd think a standard camera tripod would fit to your device...
