What variety of oboe should be on the oboe. If it's thicker, it's a Royal. If it's an AK it's got AK stamped next to the serial. If it's DM it would also have dm stamped next to the serial. If it's a regular bore, it wouldn't have a stamp at all.

The value depends on how well it plays and what kind of instrument it is, but if it's in good condition and plays decently enough, it'd be worth somewhere around $4500-$5000 on the average market. That's after it's had a $200+ servicing where a reputable oboe repairman went over it to check all of the pads and resurface/replace any that need to be fixed, clean and regulate the instrument, and oil.
