I am considering doing the unthinkable...I'm going to turn the Cabart into a lamp. :0

It's been condemned, so it's definitely DNR. It leaks like a sieve, doesn't hold any adjustments, has too much play in every rod and has a giant repaired crack through the whole top joint which is just UGLY. But will be nicely covered up by a lampshade.

It served me for the first 5 years of playing and only cost me $300 +$500 overhaul. I figured $800 (probably about $650 US at the time) was a pretty good investment to discover I actually liked the oboe, so now I think I'd like to put that on display.

Seeing as I am no handyman, has anyone ever turned an instrument into a lamp, and possibly have any tips? Otherwise I will just go by trial and error.

Anyone else ever done something to an oboe that didn't involve playing it? :P
