As you all know, I am still relatively new at the oboe after 40 years on the clarinet. I have one more question (and probably not the last!) How do you practice to get a consistent tone? When I begin playing, I have a horrid tone but as I get into the piece, things improve drastically. How do I get a good tone from beginning to end? Is there some exercise I can do while practicing? Should I practice scales? Just what??? We had our church's Easter cantata this week (done 4 nights) and each time I had a solo part, I started off bad and ended up wonderful. It is really quite embarrassing. Thank you for your input.
