Is it only the low d,e, and f that are problems? Very often subtle leaks in lower joint or even in trill key pads in upper joint make the low notes hard to play. Often the upper ones are not so bad.
Also I have noticed in young players with small hands that have this trouble are unaware that they are not curving their fingers enough and accidentally pressing down on the long key that projects down past the tenon joint the (Right -hand Aflat key) . They also may be allowing the middle finger of right hand to flatten and accidentally press a little on the trill key between the first and second holes in right hand. This is the trill key that operates the C to D trill in middle of staff. Good Luck. Lois Barton
