The bell vent opens when low B is played - not just for low Bb.
Marigaux have been fitting a similar type of mechanism on their 901s for years - the Marigaux one has a pinned steel whereas this Yamaha version has a bridged bell vent key.
I wonder what effect the red or blue coloured G# key has on the tone?
