In all cases, we're all computer users here, Finale and Myriad both (maybe even some freeware somewhere) have scanning capabilities whereby a printed page can be turned into a MIDI file. MIDI files are easy to send by e-mail or post on a blog. There are also a bunch of free sites for MIDI sharing and "publishing".

Once there it can be easily turned into:
* printable sheet music
- full score
- individual parts
* actual recordings
- all parts
- selected parts (e.g. only the piano accompaniment
* Computer aided performances
-->> advantage here: you can tweak tempo, dynamics, articulation etc. and even change the instruments playing!
-->> these modifications can THEN be turned into recordings...

There are lots of really good freeware out there for editing and playing MIDI. The sound quality depends on the sound-card of your computer and the speakers connected to it - better still: plug it to an external digital piano/synthesizer etc.

I've just begun doing toying with this. I've found a good number of useful free MIDI files and I will begin to scan others. I'll put up a post when I have more to talk about.
