I would have to agree with lbarton. It makes sense for you to try contacting A. Laubin Inc directly, as Peekskill, NY is a 50 minute train ride from grand central. Paul Laubin and David Teittlebaum would likely be either of the folks to talk to, as they run the shop. The number there is 914-737-3778. If they don't have any used instruments on hand, no big deal! It's just a phone call. Also, if they do not have any on hand, you can usually leave your name and a request to be contacted when you can come in and try a few out. They are very nice and I have known them all my life. Peekskill happens to be my hometown, and I happen to be an oboe player who is very Laubin-loyal, and for good reason. They make truly exceptional instruments. The color and tone I get out of my rosewood oboe differentiate me from other players in a very good way. I love them. They also frequently have a used Loree or two to try out. Give it a shot! Good luck!
