Remember, it is not about the oboist, but about the sound. Getting your bell up will get the tone holes where the sound comes out ( not much from the bell end unless it is low! ) to be heard by all. Just think Baroque Oboe... we hold our instruments very high as a matter of practice.

It is great fun for sure!
