Stop using a feather. Completely useless - they absorb nothing, and just spread the moisture around inside the bore of the instrument to all the wrong places. And bits of feather can get stuck inside your octave vents, for instance.

Take off the octave key (very easy job), then find a pin that exactly matches the diameter of the hole. Poke it clean, rotate, whatever it takes to clean out the hole. Without pricking yourself on the octave spring (you'll fall asleep for 100 years if you do), try BLOWING into the hole with all your strength.

Now, holding the still disassembled top joint in your left hand with all the keys closed, close of the bottom and SUCK mightily through the reed-well. Use a swab to clean out any debris. Do the same technique and BLOW tremendously through the reed-well. Connect the other two joints and check your top A. If it is clean, re-assemble the octave key and try again.

And burn that feather.
