Which Sound am I actually listening to?

It seems that there are different opinions on what is dark and what is bright.

Relating to that, as far as oboe is concerned I would like to get some opinions on what you think is a bright sound or a dark sound on the video links that I'm posting and what sound it is on oboe that I seem to enjoy, as I like both of these sounds.

On this first video is Gabriel's Oboe played by Yeon-Hee Kwak.
Do you consider this to be a dark sound?

On this next video is a song titled: For all we know by the Carpenters,
Listen to the oboe intro played by Earle Dumler.
Do you consider this a bright sound?

And last but not least, I'm posting this video of Dvorak, New World Symphony - 2nd Mvt Part 1 played on the English Horn.
Is this bright or "in between?"

I seem to like both the sound of the oboist on Gabriel's Horn for it's purity and beauty, but I also love the 'wah' sound of other oboes, depending on the piece being played. But in most cases I like the 'wah' sound over the other ( Which is why I posted the English Horn for example).

So, in your opinions, what actual sounds do I seem to drawn to, is it bright and reedy as well as very dark, or something in between?

This should make for a good study of opinions regarding dark and light on the oboe.
