 Unstable top Eb

Here's an odd thing. when I play third octave Eb, there's about a 50/50 change I'll get an Eb or an E. And whichever note starts coming out, it will then start to shift between that and the other one seemingly randomly. It's not a slight sliding shift in pitch but a definite, instant switch to the other note. So definite in fact that I can feel the column of vibrating air shift with a definite push against my lips; it feels as if someone has lightly tapped the instrument.

Any ideas what's going on? It's a Howarth S20 dual system model, and I've only been playing about a year if tha makes any difference.

Cheers folks :)
