I use a vernier digital caliper always set at exactly 47 mm. to measure from the bottom of the cork end of the staple to the last upper wrap of the thread before crossover. If it looks like I've got room for another wrap then that becomes the crossover wrap; if not enough room, then I crossover at that last upper wrap. Works every time. I double check the length of the wrap with another digital caliper. Now if I could just get the blankety-blank thingies to seal every time…![[wink]](http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/smileys/smilie3.gif)
