Dear Passionate,
Here is a story told to me third hand. It was told to another Oboist. An oboist went to the Loree shop in Paris. They brought approximately 20 or more Oboes for her to try out. She told them to return all 20 or so - because she didn't find one that met her standards. Then they brought out another group of Oboes that were clearly superior!
You may write your own moral to this story.
From my own experience trying out many Oboes (15) this year. I think you need three things, lots of patience, experience as a player, and a conception of the style/sound you wish to play.
Don't settle - although - I don't know if a perfect Oboe exists and if it does - be prepared to be very patient or extremely lucky.
