i have tried the super staple and I bought them from Mr. Lubell. i first played on a reed that i liked alot, then i wrapped it up in plumber's tape and cut it off the staple it was one and then re-tied it to the super staple. the very first thing i noticed was not so much that the sound changed, but that it felt like more air was backed up in my mouth. the tone throughout was certainly more even, although i did have to think about blowing through my oboe more than usual. since then i have ordered about 5 more and randomly tie reeds onto them when i pull them out of my tube box. i have not found myself using them exclusively, but after going back and forth between cork and super staple, i find i like the sound more of the super staple. so order a few and give it a shot, you really don't have anything to lose. good luck,

chris
