 key modification(arthritis)
Author: lbarton

My right finger, (2nd if pianist, 1st if don't count thumb) is curving sharply toward adjacent finger due to arthritis. I find it hard to cover the RH keys especially when playing Eflat on left side, or D flats. I've already corked off the split-ring D key, taped the little hole in middle RH key and extended the 1st key in RH (F#) so that I don't slide down on the F# resonanace pad when playing F#s. On oboe I can still manage but on English Horn its quite a problem. Any suggestions---other than avoiding old age ; ) Any ingenious key workers out there? I'd like to play the Dvorak New World one more time and its tough with four flats in EH solo and four sharps in first oboe parts. Lois Barton
