Nope - at least, for C# above the stave it is likely your instrument. Here are the options.
1. Open C# - just lift everything including 1st finger LH off the instrument. sounds a bit raw, intonation may not be perfect - but works just fine. You won't have problems making this one sound! [Edit: 2nd octave key, obviously]
2. Do you half hole, or raise 1st finger for C# and D?
You should be raising your 1st finger LH. However, the actual pad should raise a tiny fraction - much less than 1 mm. The height of the key is adjustable with a single screw that does not affect anything else, so you can experiment. Start with screwing the key completely closed, then try getting C#. Open 1/8 of a turn and try again. keep going until it speaks easily.
3. Now intonation. Fingering for C# is oxx|xoo C. Notice that the RH pinkie C key is also partially depressing the RH middle-finger E key? This is adjustable, and is to tune the C#. the screw to adjust this is on the stem of the RH C key plate - the bit you push with your pinkie. Close to flatten, Open to sharpen. Close too much and bottom C#, C, B, Bb won't sound, so be careful!
