 Gerhard Rudolf Uebel Oboe

As you might have guessed, I know nothing (well, not very much) about oboe's. Anyway, I have a Gerhard Rudolf Uebel Oboe, serial # 906, made in 1938. Can anyone give me any info on the maker? History? The horn is also stamped ss14!?? Thanks for any info., Ken
