I have several of these staples, and they're tough to deal with. The rings are quite large, and don't fit in normal newer Loree reed wells or Howarth reed wells, so you have to sand them down. Also, when they get warm after you've played in them, they expand even further, making the task of removal even more difficult.
Yes, they do indeed have interesting resonance properties, but are quite similar in my opinion in tonal effects to the skinny chudnow staples. I've tried Loree, Weber, and Chudnow staples with the nissen sleeves.
