Erik -- I own two Marigaux 2001 instruments, produced two years apart. Each came with its own set of peculiarities. One of them had a fuzzy middle octave Bflat. I had the tone hole slightly adjusted, and keep the keys regulated so that the small vent that opens for Bflat is as open as possible (making certain that the screw on the linkabe from the middle joint is not so backed-off that the Bflat and C vents do not seal when they are closed). The middle octave G was flat on both instruments. I regulated the height of the RH first finger key to keep that as open as possible (I did this by shaving down the cork on the underside of the middle joint lever which links to the upper joint and lifts the small vents for C and Bflat). That also assured that the middle joint linkage had some play before it hit the upper joint linkage. I don't know that all of the pads have to lift at the same height -- just the right height for the notes affected by each one. There can be other side-effects of the adjustments I made (e.g., the second octave G might be too sharp, and the middle octave C might be too bright or sharp). In that case, make a compromise between benefiting the Bflat and G and not adversely affecting the C and upper G.
