Anyone buy the new Tabuteau book by Laila Storch? I'm about half way through it and it's fascinating. One great thing about it is the CD that comes with it, "the Wolsing tapes." I expected some really horrendous old recording, but it's very clear and pleasant to listen to. It's like getting a lesson with the master himself! Storch transcribes the spoken part so you can understand what the old guy's saying, but the examples he plays are lesson enough.
I didn't know much about Tabuteau before getting the book, other than that he was the teacher of the teacher of three of my teachers. (I studied with two Storch students, and my first teacher said his teacher was a Tabuteau student as well, but I never knew who his teacher was.) So I am learning a LOT about oboe in America through this book.
