Interesting. A friend of mine mentioned this instrument to me the other day, and I never had heard of it before. He said it's prevalent in Peter Gabriel's soundtrack for Last Temptation of Christ (for those of you who haven't heard it, that's easy way to hear it).
Anyway, the friend who mentioned it has one and says it's very difficult to play. And finding the double reeds for it even more difficult. One really has to learn to make their own reeds. He said he decided to take up the oboe because it's easier to find a teacher. LOL.
