I have found that they are tight as well, but after you've put them in the oboe a couple of times they are fine.
If you are having trouble getting the reed in the well, lick the cork; sounds kind of horrible but nothing will happen, and I have seen a bunch of players do it-I actually knew an oboist-old school oboist who used to give the top joint tenon of his Laubin a lick before putting it together!!! As for getting the reed out, if it's still in there pretty tight, use a tissue, polishing cloth or your pull-through swab and grip the cork and pull. You need some type of friction of get the reed out and your fingers will not do it. You can also use petroleum jelly for the cork. I use it for the tenons and they are fine.
I have found that all of the new Lorees I have played have tighter reed wells. I don't know if this is part of the redesign or not.
