I am late to this thread but have information for you. I studied with Maestro Luconi at the Teal School of Music in Detroit in the late 50s. The great Armenian clarinetist Hachig Kazarian (with whom I played at Cass Tech under Maestro Mischa Bistritzky) and Detroit Symphony Orchestra clarinetist Vincent Melidon (who would later become my teacher) also studied with him. Maestro Luconi was an uncompromising teacher, emphasizing tone quality above all else. His tone was enormous. You had to play your lesson flawlessly to keep his attention. But from the moment you entered his studio you knew you were in the presence of genuine greatness. I am honored to report that I was one of his students.
