or here's an idea....
an alternative low F key (Tosca like), with an exchange mechanism so that when you add the E/B key it opens a vent to tune the low E (this will only open if the alt F key is depressed). As far as i can see the only problems would be....
- extra weight on the right hand (some people are more picky than other where this is concerned)
- where to mount the posts for the alt F key...

The main complaints I've heard about the vent keys operated by the register key is that the long rods between reg and vent are easily damaged and that it makes the reg key action feel sluggish. My idea above would eliminate those two problems...
