I see that Schreiber have started selling a Boehm clarinet under their own name:
http://www.schreiber-keilwerth.com/englisch/schreiber/instruments/clarinet_6010.htm
It is not simply a rebadged B12, because it has a wrap-around register key.
This makes me wonder whether Schreiber have lost - or fear they will lose - the contract to make the B12 for Buffet-Crampon. Now Schreiber are no longer under the same ownership as Buffet, this would not be a huge surprise.
The price, at one UK retailer at least, is the same as the B12.

Very interesting... i looked through the other instruments on offer and had a crazy idea....
ok- the full Oehler system clarinets have the low F/E vent mechanism, either operated by a thumb key or hooked up to the register key. This mechanism automatically switches from a vent on the lower joint for the low F, to a vent on the bell for the low E.
So, I am aware of course of the various vents available on Boehm clarinets (Selmer Recital, Buffet Tosca come to mind) but to my knowledge none of these have the E/F exchange....
- has anyone ever seen a Boehm Clarinet with this feature?
- has anyone ever tried to put the keys from an Oehler clarinet onto the bottom joint of a Boehm? (probably not i imagine)

I'm still thinking about putting this kind of mechanism on my full Boehms to bring the low F, E and Eb (and the Bb) up to pitch.

or here's an idea....
an alternative low F key (Tosca like), with an exchange mechanism so that when you add the E/B key it opens a vent to tune the low E (this will only open if the alt F key is depressed). As far as i can see the only problems would be....
- extra weight on the right hand (some people are more picky than other where this is concerned)
- where to mount the posts for the alt F key...
The main complaints I've heard about the vent keys operated by the register key is that the long rods between reg and vent are easily damaged and that it makes the reg key action feel sluggish. My idea above would eliminate those two problems...
just an idea...
