 French file cut
Author: George L Smyth

I looked through the archives, but was unable to find a discussion on how a French file cut reed differs from a standard reed.

Any ideas?

Thanks -

george

George --

One explanation --with illustrations -- is on the Reeds Australia site: http://www.reedsaus.com.au/fcut.htm

Thanks for the link.

Does anyone here use this type of reed, or is the traditional cut more often preferred?

Thanks -

Vandorens are file cut, aren't they?

I believe the Vandorens are indeed cut this way. The Mitchell Lurie Premium (not the regular) reeds are also cut this way.
