Hey, Everybody!
What do you know about Hand in Hand with Hanon? Is it a good book for an adult amateur? I am happy to say that I will be continuing my music education after having been switched from the BS to the BA. I hope to pursue music librarianship.
Happy Clarinetting,
Kimberly Lambertson
P.S. Thanks for all your help in the past. It's much appreciated. I am grateful that I can count on professionals like yourselves. Good luck in your future endeavours.

Hand in Hand with Hanon contains the first 20 Hanon piano exercises transcribed in all keys with various articulations for clarinet. The rest of the book is jazz-specific. The 20 Hanon exercises are valuable, but with a couple flaws:
1. The first 18 exercises are only done ascending, but not descending.
2. Each key of each exercise has a specific articulation assigned to it, for some reason. I don't think that articulation should go "hand in hand" with technique exercises, but rather come after technical problems have been mastered slurred.
I prefer other methods, such as Baermann. If I were to use the Hanon exercises, I would slur them all and add descending versions of the first 18, in which case I think they would be very valuable.
