i just got this old clarinet its abot 40 years old and in great condition its and alexandre looks like wood. well the first day i got it i sterilized the mp's and cleaned out the instrument and then i played it for 5 minutes and checked it for leaks and all and u know how u cove the holes and blow into that section well when i did this i found that, that part of the instrument had a good seal and the i took my hand off the bottom that was using to cover the bottom it had some kind of "brown gooey goop" kinda driping out of it. The same thing happened to the other portion. But, other than that everything is fine. Does any one know what h this "goop" could be?

Probably accumulated dirt, oil, etc. Try swabbing multiple times with a fairly damp swab. Then swab afterwards with a clean dry swab.

You can't really tell a clarinet's age by just looking at it unless it is so old that it has some other key system than the Boehm or Oehler. Even then the older key systems were produced concurrently with the newer key systems for quite an overalapping period.
Proper or improper maintenance make all the difference in the appearance of age.
Case styles can give clues but many clarinets do not have their original case so it might be in a case much newer or older than the instrument itself.

In addition to Dee's good advice, I think it would help to take a cigarette paper, "hair curler paper" or camera lens cleaning tissue, or a clarinet pad cleaning paper from a music store, and tidy up the pads. Do it right after you finish swabbing, because the pads will be damp at that point from your damp swab, and probably will have picked up some of the brown goop on its way out. That stuff could leave your pads sticky and possibly deteriorate them, depending on what's in the goop. Just place the paper over the tone hole, close the pad on the paper and pull the paper out. A couple times on each pad ought to clean them off, and could save them from being ruined if they're in good enough condition to keep.

Just be careful. Unless the seller was the original owner, he/she could have been guessing too. I've seen many state that an instrument was xx years old and when you go look up the serial number, they are off by 20 years.

I have a about a dozen old clarinets I've collected over the years. One had an accumulation of brown crud in the bore as the original owner was a chain smoker in a Dixieland band. I recognized the stains right-off as I used to blow smoke through mine to find a stubburn leak not detected by a light. The offendind pad would usualy have an immediate stain at the point of the leak. I don't like doing this but when your concert is a hour away you get desperate! Just clean it the best you can and it will stop.
